When shopping for data cables, you may have seen markings like \"AWG 24\" or \"AWG 20\" on the packaging. What does AWG mean? Is a higher number better, or a lower one? Let's talk about AWG wire gauge.

AWG stands for American Wire Gauge - a standard for measuring wire diameter. The key thing to remember: the lower the AWG number, the thicker the wire. The higher the number, the thinner the wire.
